Once again OxWiChem celebrated the IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast over delicious breakfast sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry. This year's theme "Empowering Diversity in Science" was aimed to create an active network of men and women paving the way for gender equality in science.

Dr Rebecca Ruck, head of Process Research and Development at Merck, presented an online workshop for students and staff on implicit bias. She spoke about what unconscious bias is, how it affects decision making, and how to mitigate against it, provoking thoughtful discussion.

Inaugural Invited Speaker Seminar

Professor Dame Carol Robinson

OxWiChem was honoured to host our own Professor Dame Carol Robinson as our inaugural speaker. She outlined her illustrious and inspirational career in a seminar that was standing room only! She told us about her journey from leaving school at 16 to becoming the first female Professor of Chemistry at Cambridge and at Oxford, and her current role as the President of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
